The 1861 Census (RG9/2754 42 p24) shows William to be at Peckers Hill, Sutton, working as a glass polisher, married with 3 young children. Living in house was Mary Ann Dyson, a servant, age 17 born Liverpool. Possibly wifes sister.
1871 Census (RG10/3867 folio 77 pg 15). Living at 68 Peckers Hill Lane, Sutton, working as a copperas roaster (iron or copper sulphate). Used as a glass polish? Married with 6 children.
1881 Census (RG11/3739 folio 123 pg 22). Living at 49 Ditch Hillock, Sutton, St Helens. Working as a rouge burner (for glass polishing). Age 51 married 4 youngest children at home.
Not alive 1891 Census (RG12/3026 folio 28 pg 53)
Probably worked either at the St Helens, Crown, Sheet & Plate Glass Company or at the London & Manchester Glass Company. Both had works in Sutton as shown in Slaters Directory 1855
Cause of death - inflamation of stomach eclampsia. WT Prescott son present at death
An etched glass jug held by CMP made by WP spells name Prescot. RTC has other glass objects.
