John probably worked at the nearby William Yates, Canal Foundry, Eanam. The firm was known for horizontal steam mill engines which were made both for local factories and for export.

All horizontals probably made when JC was too old. No known examples of beam engines from 1830's to e1850's exist.

Had 10 children surviving to adulthood which was an impressive feat for the time. She is thought to have had up to 14 children in total. Non-survivors may have included Joe and another set of twins.

Living at 5 Myrtle Street, Blackburn around time of death. Died of broncho-pneumonia, myocarditis and paralysis agitans

Husband Tom died in 1917 when Nancy was 52 years old.
